Echo Pacific Construction Provides Construction Mentoring for the United States Marine Corps
Echo Pacific Construction, Inc. is pleased to announce its mentoring partnership with USMC Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB-13) currently underway at Santa Margarita Elementary School, Oceanside Union School District, located on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA.
The Santa Margarita Elementary School Modernization project represents the first of its kind mentorship program between a General Contractor and active military personnel in San Diego County. The goal of the partnership is to provide the active duty members with professional hands-on construction experience including job site safety, demolition, framing, plumbing, concrete, and other applicable trades that will support CLB-13’s mission of providing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief/rebuilding efforts globally when called upon.
The modernization of the current school campus encompasses the demolition of six permanent buildings, four portable buildings, all infrastructure, hardscape, softscape and two buildings that will be torn down to studs and modernized. The new campus will consist of seven new permanent buildings, a complete remodel of the two existing buildings and thirty new portable classroom buildings along with a completely new infrastructure, a new play field and two new playgrounds. The program coordinates with each phase of the project and select sub-contractors involved in the modernization.
Echo Pacific is pleased to provide this unique training support to the Armed Services and is also dedicated to providing career opportunities to groups of people historically under-represented in the construction industry, including military veterans.
“This particular program is two-fold – they are gaining knowledge and training to better support emergency disaster efforts on behalf of the United States Marine Corps as well as the training provides additional construction knowledge – [potentially] smoothing the way for careers in the construction industry when they transition from military duty to civilian life. America’s service members – past and present – have given all of us so much. It is our duty and honor to help them achieve their own career dreams after they finish with their military service,” said Chris Rowe, owner and president of Echo Pacific.
