Echo Pacific Construction & Escondido Union High Schools Ready for Friday Night Lights

The track and field upgrades are part of the Escondido Union High School District’s $98 Million bond. Proposition T was approved by voters in 2008 for capital improvements and new construction at three high schools and the construction of a new “bio-tech” high school slated for opening in time for the 2013/2014 school year.

Replacing the natural grass fields is the Hellas Matrix™ 46 ounce synthetic turf system. The track at Escondido High School is the Sport Tracks™ 200 RETOP and Orange Glen and San Pasqual High Schools have Sport Tracks™ 1000. Additionally, new scoreboards provide the finishing touch at Escondido High and Orange Glen.

“Working with Echo Pacific and Hellas Construction has been a great experience for the district,” commented Barry Dragon (Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for EUHSD). “The experience of all parties was instrumental in bringing these facilities to life. The products are of the highest quality, the installation was second to none, and I’m confident that our coaches, athletes and fans will agree we have the best fields in San Diego County.”

Site Staff was involved in designing the fields including the selection of colors, use and placement of school logos, and design of the new scoreboards. The athletic directors and track coaches for each school were involved in the track and field event lay outs which was instrumental in making sure that things were exactly what they wanted. Echo Pacific and Hellas faced a very narrow window of time (90 days) in which to complete the projects, including demolition of the old fields. “We have a great team, who yet again has exceeded all my expectations as well as those of our clients,” said Chris Rowe President of Echo Pacific Construction. All three track and fields were done in time for the first kick-off of the 2010 football season!
